Empowering Youth Financially

Past Projects Overview

In 2020, with support from World Vision Uganda, CHCM implemented a project focused on empowering youth—particularly boys aged 16 to 24 years—with practical financial literacy skills. The initiative aimed to enhance their ability to generate income, make informed financial decisions, and cultivate a culture of saving.

Through tailored training sessions, 25 boys were equipped to recognize and utilize available work opportunities, manage earnings responsibly, and consistently save at least 15% of their income for future investments.

By the end of the project:

  • Five participants had successfully started income-generating ventures including boda boda (motorcycle taxi) businesses, chapatti vending, and selling electronic appliances.
  • Several others enrolled in vocational training programs, which they had previously overlooked, marking a shift in mindset toward long-term self-reliance.

This initiative marked a turning point for 25 young men in Mulago II, many of whom faced limited opportunities and lacked access to financial guidance. With your support, we were able to deliver practical financial literacy training tailored to their realities—equipping them not only to earn income, but to develop a saving culture and explore long-term self-employment through small-scale business ventures.

Thanks to your contribution, five participants successfully launched income-generating activities, including motorcycle taxi operations, chapatti vending, and sales of electronic appliances. Others gained the confidence and inspiration to enroll in vocational training programs, unlocking new paths they had previously dismissed.

Your investment in these young people has had a ripple effect—not just on their livelihoods, but on their families and the wider community. You’ve helped restore hope, dignity, and a belief in a better future.

We are proud of what we accomplished together and look forward to continued partnerships that transform lives and empower communities from the ground up.
